Perspectives on a supernatural drama - 5

Starting with the name of The Merciful, this series of articles explores ‘Coma’, a supernatural drama broadcast on ifilm; the review will include Devil as a theme in the drama. Here’s excerpts from interviews with the theology adviser to the screenplay development.

Note: the article series will explore the topic of Satanology from the outset, as the main theme of the series broadcast on ifilm; however, after talking about a major obstacle on the path to God, the path itself, as well as themes such as love for God, The Merciful, will come to the fore in the article series. So, pictures used all the way through will be predominantly of a positive theme; hence suggestive of the ultimate goal of the humankind, i.e. reaching God.

Devil, Islam’s version

In the previous edition, a question that had been raised for the screenwriter to answer, was asked; whether the human-depiction of Devil would cause distrust and pessimism among the public, e.g. you’d think the person next to you could be one. Here’s the answer he provided, plus more.

First and foremost, you should not think the person besides you could be a Devil. In a saying, the first Shia Imam, Ali (AS) said if you want to doubt anyone, first of all doubt yourself. That is, after watching such series, don’t start casting doubt on the people around, such as your wife or brother. Rather, ask yourself if you could have turned to one. Ask ‘What is the percentage of Devilish nature inside me, when I’m committing something of that sort?’

There will be more on this in the upcoming episodes.

Stay with ifilm on the supernatural side of ‘Coma’.
